2002 Car Rally & Picnic
Back by popular demand, the Cultural Committee is pleased to present its 2nd Car Rally for NAAAP Vancouver & friends. Once again you the driver and your navigators (at least one to as many as you have seatbelts in your car) will be in search of culturally significant landmarks around the lower mainland by answering riddles to find their location. Once located, you must answer a question that only from being there can be answered. You are timed from the start and the team with the most correct answers wins an emergency car kit valued at $35. Should there be a tie, your time will be the deciding factor. You must abide all road laws and we recommend bringing a map, cell phone, a tank full of gas, $8 cash to buy scavenger items, a sense of adventure and a compass for those directionally challenged.[ more ]

NAAAP-Seattle is hosting its 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on June 15, 2002. This year's event will be held at the Echo Falls Country Club in Woodinville, Washington. Opened in 1992, Echo Falls is an 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Frei. The course features large, well-bunkered greens and an unforgettable island green on the 18th hole. Blood Donor Day

Once again planning is about to start for NAAAP's involvement in Vancouver's Asian Heritage Month festivities scheduled for May 2001. Past events that NAAAP organized were: Vancouver's First Asian Comedy Night, Genealogy Seminar, Tea Tastings, Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Workshop, Yan Xin Qigong Open House, Professional Careers in the Public Sector Informational Session, Asian Stereotypes in the Media Forum and The Last Spike Documentary Discussion. We are looking for Committee Members. If you are interested in Asian/Canadian Cultural/Socio/Political community events and have some time to spare, we welcome you to be part of the planning process. LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOP
In celebrating the Autumn Solstice Celebration in September, we are arranging a lantern making workshop with the Public Dream Society to make your own individual lantern for our Moon Gazing Event on September 14th. You will have a choice of making a tissue paper lantern in shapes of a star, moon or sun. Should you wish to make a more elaborate lantern, there will be an additional cost for the additional supplies. Once lit with a tea candle inside, these lanterns will illuminate our Moon Gazing procession on September 13. It is not necessary to have a lantern to walk the processional or is it necessary to have made a lantern to come to the Moon Gazing Event. You may choose either one or both. CHANG DAI-CHIEN, MASTER OF THE THREE PERFECTIONS EXHIBITION
NAAAP is organizing a group to view the masterpieces of famous artist, Chang Dai-chien (1899-1983). He was renowned for his ability to combine the traditions of brush and ink painting with a modern approach. We will be meeting an hour before to view the pieces and then catch the public lecture scheduled for 2:30pm. After the lecture, we will re-view the pieces with our gained knowledge of the the art world and then regroup for coffee and a short discussion of the exhibition.
